I had so much fun painting this portrait and it is not often that I am as satisfied with the end result. Here is the final official photograph, courtesy of Michael Rivera, of ‘Ageless’. With any luck it will be hanging in the Penfield Art Association Winter Exhibit at Barnes & Noble, Pittsford, NY next month and then I am hoping to have it juried into the Northeast National Pastel Exhibition in Old Forge this spring. I will let you know how it fares.
My pastels are put away temporarily and I am back at work on ‘Jazz Hands VII’, the drummer. I am also beginning work on the most complicated oil I have done to date featuring a flapper in a bar scene, Pete’s Tavern in New York City to be exact. So I am back working with oil. It won’t be long I am sure when I get that yearning to break out the pastels again. Bittersweet as I miss the daily practice of stroking that pastel on the paper and watching those smiling eyes appear behind the fan! I miss her.
